I have 2 more bitch lines coming in the Fall of 2010 to complete the genetic diversity of the Cesky Fousek (Bohemian Wirehaired Pointing Griffon) in North America and there future. With the guidance of Dr. Jaromir Dostal, Pavel Dostal, the breeders in the Czech Republic, Jim Siebel and John Pitlo (WPGCA) what we establish today will service the needs of North American Sportsmen. who truly want and desire a versatile breed with unique secured qualities and 9 working lines enabling desired genetic traits to be infused in any future litters.
NOTE: The quest continues.
I turned down the females that were selected for me because they did not meet the guidelines I required for the future of the Cesky’s in North America.
I will try again with another visit in 2011.
Meril and Lena set the guidelines for imported females. They must be equal or better. Even if it takes more trips and more research.
Like custom building a house with what u want, so living is that more enjoyable.

My husband and I have a wirehair point griffon and are interested in getting another dog. I am fasinated with your dogs. Beauties!
I recently joined the WPGCA mostly because of your website. I am interested in the philisophical split surrounding the interjection of the Cesky blood lines into the American Griff back in the 80′s. I like to keep an open mind and perhaps one of your pups could be in our future. What is the price for a pup?
We hunt quail and deer mostly.
Thanks

Congradulations Dona
I am an advocate of the WPGCA. I believe in there work and admire them for doing it with open doors. To me there is no Philisophical split, Just responsible genetic breeding under the watchful eye of breed wardens who are aiming to establish the Griffon breed standard to what it used to be. Everyone has done it in the past to achieve so called BLUE BLOODS and some are doing it with closed doors . I call that politics.
Mandatory genetic testing on every litter registered with AKC, CKC, NAVHDA would bring us back to responsible dog breeding and open doors.
My Cesky Fousek Pups (Bohemian Wirehaired Pointing Griffons) are $1,200.00
Hi I’m originaly from Czech rep. and I’m very familiar with Cesky fousek dogs. I would be interested to get one in near future. What would be a price ?
Thanks Denis
P.S.:Nice informative website!!
Thankyou Denis,
I will continue to add to the website through personal experiences and accumulated knowledge from sportsmen and breeders who’s knowledge far surpasses mine.
Just a note to your web site that my personl experience as hunting dogs shows they are second to none in the industry. I have run my male dog for 9 years now and there is no comparison to any other breed for intelligence, performance in the field
I have read several comments from owners of WPG’s that say to be prepared to have the dogs in the house with you. Is the Cesky Fousek similar in nature? We have a pole barn with kennels where we house our dogs. They are well cared for as the barn has electricity and water, is heated and also has industrial ceiling fans for the hot summer months. We spend a couple of hours every evening with our dogs as we have five acres which includes a pond so they can get plenty of exercise and attention each evening.
Hello Scott,
The Cesky Fousek is virtually identical to The WPG’s genetically and in disposition. I believe that when it comes to having your dog as an indoor or outdoor dog it should be strictly a personal choice that suites you and your families life style. As far as the difference I can tell you that the Cesky has a 3 coat insulation factor in place and it will not have it if the dog is kept indoors. Needs the weather change. Outdoor dogs have a much thicker coat that develops to protect them from the temperature difference and protection when hunting.
Some families are filled with activity through out the day and the dog is better off in his or her own space. One important factor to REMEMBER is that all dogs require attention and love and EXERCISE to keep them healthy mentally and physically.
great post, thanks for sharing
Hello,
do you know if there are any Cesky Fousek breeders in Quebec.
Thank you
Nicolas
Hello Nicolas,
I am the only breeder in Canada. I have imported 8 of the 10 working lines available for the Cesky Fousek. I researched, found and purchased the top dogs in the country and also
imported frozen semen from top stud dogs in the Czech Republic.
The great thing is that Quebec is only 5 hours away from Cambridge, Ontario. One hour west of Toronto.
I am the first individual to import the Cesky in numbers that will help them establish a secure well bred population in North America.
cheers,
Armando
