History

The Cesky Fousek (Bohemian Wirehair Pointing Griffon) orginates from the Czech Republic.

Dating back to the 13th Century backed by documentation makes them the oldest wirehair in existence.

Noble, true, very intelligent, NON-aggressive by nature, loyal, biddable, great pointing instincts, amazing noses, uncanny ability to adapt to any hunting situation or game, a three coat system for protection, easy trainability and early development has made the Cesky Fousek the breed of choice by sportsmen in the Czech Republic.

There existence battered by WWI and hard times under communist rule. These magnificent dogs were brought back from near extinction by the hard work and knowledge of sportsmen  who under went a rigorous journey of establishing what once was. The ultimate gun dog with all the bells and whistles.

Using there existing best dogs and infusing new blood from 6 specimens ( Drathaar, Kurzhaar, Korthels Griffons and Sticklehaar) they started there journey and created 10 working lines keeping one for a boost line when needed. Strict line breeding of dogs that passed all levels ( confirmation, coats, nose, intelligent, tracking ability, love for water, non aggressive nature, easy train ability, was done under the watchful eye of the breed wardens and hunters who knew what they wanted. In this process special attention was paid to having sound hips starting in the 70′s. Achieving the lowest hip dysplasia of any working breed ( below 2.7% ) the Czech breeders had achieved there goal through selective breeding of using only dogs with sound hips in there genetic pool.

Comfortable in the home or kennel and there loving nature for there family members make them a great addition to any hunting family.

The modern day Cesky Fousek is born.

The term Versatile Hunting Dog had the Cesky Fousek in mind. Adapting easily to fields, woods, a marsh,  hot or extreme cold conditions is made to look easy by these hunting machines. Tracking large wounded game, hunting wild boar, fur or birds is done with an eager and efficient manner. There cooperation level is second to none making for a perfect hunting partner that learns to know what you expect from him or her with little effort from you. Balance of brains and game drive is what the Czech breeders have achieved. If it sounds like I am tooting my own horn just come and meet Baron and Meril and judge for yourself.

The Ultimate Package is my best description for this amazing and noble dog.
