Choice, Choice, Choice

January 4, 2011

As I sit here and write I ponder 2011 and years past and smile at the fact North Americans have it GOOD.

We live in a society that offers us choice and control of how to enjoy our free time.

The Cesky Fousek’s were my personal choice to accompany me into our great outdoors. any outdoors men-woman, or sports person  choose the best equipment the market has to offer BECAUSE it will maximize the level of enjoyment and allow them to excel.

We North Americans spend billions each year on giving us quality down time. When it comes to sporting dogs we are offered all varieties on all levels.

What the Cesky offers is a sound genetically bred dog (monitored by breed wardens) that excels in the field and home. Easy to train, highly intelligent, confident NON-aggressive attitude, maximized hunting instincts and a hunting partner that enjoys your direction and company.

BALANCE.

The average “JOE” which I am in the field that requires simplicity on his hunts searched and found a dog that DOES NOT require thousands of dollars to train and drops my stress levels to a chilling state is the CHOICE the CESKY FOUSEK offers U.

The father to all wirehairs lies at your finger tips and in front of your eyes (1348-2011).

The end of your search and the beginning of your JOURNEY.

Enjoy

Ira the Wonder PUP

December 26, 2010

Ira

Presenting Ira. A 16 month old Cesky Fousek Male I brought back from the Czech Republic in 2010.

This young male completed all the test’s ( wood, field, water, utility and universal ) with Prize 1 scores.

The amazing part is he did it all in the season of 2010 and by 16 month’s of age.

An amazing, highly intelligent, perfect coat, unbelievable nose, police dog tracking ability, takes to ice retrieves like a polar bear, loves direction and PLEASING is his middle name who points with all of his 700 years of genetics nestled into a perfect build.

This dog is the finest male specimen (complete package supreme) of the Cesky Fousek I have ever seen and he is still a PUPPY. I consider this dog a final gift of faith from my friend Jaromir. Ira along with Baron, Argo and Cyr (all different bloodlines) compile my years of searching for GUN-DOGS  SUPREME  to compliment the gentleman-woman in enjoying the great outdoors and North American tradition

Ira on point

.

Next litter is Ira and Meril pups.

Coming soon.

To My American Friends

December 26, 2010

I had heard this story on my visits to the Czech Republic in the past and thought it to be common knowledge by Americans everywhere .

My friend John Pitlo from the WPGCA just emailed me recently with this. I think it is proper and just to follow what I have written about my friend Jaromir.

Enjoy and remember that good things are remembered and cherished.

P.S  if anyone would like a copy of the full email with the pictures just let me know and I will be happy to forward it on in full. John is right. It is an amazing story that every American should know and be proud of.

Happy Holidays to all.

Have you ever wondered if anyone in Europe remembers America ‘s sacrifice in World War II? There is an answer in a small town in the Czech Republic . The town called Pilsen ( Plzen ).

Every 5 years, Pilsen conducts the Liberation Celebration of  the City of Pilsen in the Czech Republic .
May 6th, 2010, marked the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Pilsen by General George Patton’s 3rd Army. Pilsen is the town that every American should visit. Because they love America and the American Soldier…

Even 65 years later…. by the thousands,

The citizens of Pilsen came to say thank you.

Lining  the streets of Pilsen for miles

From the large crowds,

to quiet reflective moments,

including this American family’s private time to honor and remember their American hero.

This is the crash site of Lt. Virgil P. Kirkham, the last recorded American USAAF pilot killed in Europe during WWII. It was Lt. Kirkham’s 82nd mission and one that he volunteered to go on. At the time, this 20-year-old pilot’s P-47 Thunderbolt plane was shot down, a young 14-year-old Czech girl, Zdenka Sladkova, was so moved by his sacrifice she made a vow to care for him and his memory. For 65 straight years, Zdenka, now 79-years-old, took on the responsibility to care for Virgil’s crash site and memorial near her home.

On May 4th, she was recognized by the Mayor of Zdenka’s home town of Trhanova , Czech Republic, for her sacrifice and extraordinary effort to honor this American hero.

Another chapter in this important story… the Czech people are teaching their children about America’s sacrifice for their freedom.

American Soldiers, young and old, are the ”Rock Stars” these children and their parents want autographs from.

Yes, Rock Stars! As they patiently waited for his autograph, the respect this little Czech boy and his father have for our troops serving today was heartwarming and inspirational.

The Brian LaViolette Foundation established The Scholarship of Honor in tribute to General George S. Patton and the American Soldier, past and present.

Each year, a different military hero will be honored in tribute to General Patton’s memory and their mission to liberate Europe . This award will be presented to a graduating senior who will be entering the military or a form of community service such as fireman, policeman, teaching or nursing — a cause greater than self. The student will be from 1 of the 5 high schools in Pilsen , Czech Republic .

The first award will be presented in May 2011 in honor of Lt. Virgil Kirkham, that young 20-year-old P-47 pilot killed 65 years ago in the final days of WWII.

Presenting Virgil’s award will be someone who knows the true meaning of service and sacrifice… someone who looks a lot like Virgil. Marion Kirkham, Virgil’s brother, who himself served during WWII in the United States Army Air Corps!!!

In closing… Here is what the city of Pilsen thinks of General Patton’s grandson. George Patton Waters (another Rock Star!) we’re proud to say, serves on Brian’s Foundation board.

And it’s front page news over there not buried in the middle of the social section.

Brigadier General Miroslav Zizka, 1st Deputy Chief of Staff, Ministry of Defense, Czech Armed Forces.

Ing. Jaromir Dostal, DrSc. My Friend

September 24, 2010

September 23rd, 2010  Dr. Jaromir Dostal passed away at the age of 70 yrs. doing what he loved.

Jaromir with his wife Ludmila

Traditional Czech breakfast and that Smile

Enjoying the great outdoors with his friends.

It is a very sad day for me and dog lovers around the world who knew, loved and admired his knowledge, presence, quick wit, humour and love for dogs and people.

I have had the pleasure of meeting, drinking, eating and learning from Dr. Dostal on three separate occasions on my visits to the Czech Republic. In one weeks time I would have been graced with his presence for a fourth. That was not meant to be in the grand scheme of life.

He was responsible for setting me on a Cesky Fousek quest to import the breed and spread the news to North America.

He saw my passion for what I consider a gem in the ruff. He listed his concerns and goals for the future of this breed and kept emphasizing the importance and responsibility of proper genetic breeding to protect and improve what took 700 years to create and how important it was to keep POLITICS out of dog breeding. Good dog is good dog and bad dog is bad dog no matter who owns it or who your friends are.

I listened and understood his words and passion that he carried in his voice.

He greeted me into his home, shared his family and his many friends in the Czech Republic and called me his friend with open arms.

Jim Seibel, John Pitlo and the WPGCA were new friends that he introduced to me. They carried the same message as Dr. Dostal.

Responsible Dog Breeding. “NO POLITICS’

Jim and John and the members of the WPGCA invited and flew Dr. Dostal to the USA on more than one occasion so others could listen to this great man speak his words. John gave Dr. Dostal a great memory that he will take with him. A good old USA wild Turkey hunt, called in by John. When I arrived in Czech Republic last year all he could talk about was that turkey whose tail and beard was hanging on his wall along with many memories of years past and John’s expert calling. I asked him if John still had that pet Turkey in his backyard when he left.

He laughed and said “No No. Wild Turkey”.

An amazing man that will never be replaced is now gracing the heavens where Cesky Fouseks of past  will proudly walk beside him knowing that he was instrumental in the creation and stabilizing of the Cesky Fousek of today.

On October 4, 2010 I will arrive in Prague, meet with Pavel his son and some of his many friends and drink to his memory and help keep Czech Republic as the number one consumers of beer in the world and get drunk for the fourth time in my life with a smile on my face knowing that he is smiling down on me because it will take all of 2 Pivov’s and one Ferhnet (Czech Snapps).

The morning will be one beer and one sausage that he kindly reminded me is also Czech tradition.

Jaromir as he always kindly reminded me to call him because I always said Dr. Dostal.

You will always be my friend whom I will greatly miss till we meet again but I will carry that smile that you always encouraged knowing that the pleasure of your presence and knowledge was felt and shared with so many.

Baron, Meril, Argo, Hessy, Cyr , Lena and the future Cesky’s they will produce are memories of you for all days to come for me.

On behalf of Jim, John, WPGCA and myself we wish you a great journey and know that you will be missed and remembered by many.
